![]() ![]() God, I could just go on and on but I don’t want to give away any details so you can enjoy this book on your own. Was this book strictly romance? No! While it was about finding and trusting in love, it was also about healing and resolution. There were moments (many) that I felt my stomach drop to my feet. My emotions ranged from compassion to sadness, to fear and worry to relief. Just wow! This book had everything! Definitely all the feels. Incredible story! 5 Stars to Orion by by author Raeah Wilding. POV: First-person dual perspectives Synopsis: ![]() ![]() Genres: Romantic Suspense Romance Triggers Military Romance ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is why I believe you should stay far away from this movie. If you are unaware of who was at the helm as director, then please keep reading, because it shocked me as well. Staring the screen in awe of what the filmmakers thought would work as comedy, baffled me to no end. Not only is this one of the laziest comedies I've seen in a while, but it's just one of the worst films of 2017, period. If anyone comes out of The Layover in a good mood, I feel as though they may have found a certain guilty pleasure from the jokes throughout this film, because I quite honestly have very little to compliment this movie on. All comedy is subjective, everyone knows that, but when it comes to comedy that's just plain lazy, I believe everyone has the right to complain, even if some viewers find it funny. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A Manhattan Ghost Story, his seventh novel, was optioned to be filmed in the 1980s. T M Wright‘s first publication was a non-fiction study of unidentified flying objects, entitled The Intelligent Man’s Guide to Flying Saucers in 1968. ‘T M Wright is the best ghost story writer alive today.’ – American Fantasy Magazine ‘Wright convincingly proves that he understands, as few do, how to giveĪ scare without spilling blood all over the page.’ – Publishers Weekly ‘T M Wright is a rare and blazing talent.’ – Stephen King Telos Publishing is proud to reissue this classic novel from acclaimed author T M Wright a hypnotic, spooky page-turner that is by turns a terrifying slide into madness and an effective love story. When Phyllis disappears, Abner wanders the streets, and he sees what appear to be disaffected and strangly-acting people everywhere – hailing taxis, selling puppies on street corners, pushing baby carriages, and he starts to suspect … Soon Abner is deeply involved with Phyllis and is wholly unprepared for the revelation that Art is actually wanted for her murder – an event that took place some time earlier. However he finds that Art, the owner of the flat he is staying in, has gone missing, leaving behind a beguiling and sensuous young lady called Phyllis Pellaprat, to whom he’s instantly attracted. Photographer Abner Cray arrives in Manhattan to begin work on an illustrated book of the city. ![]() ![]() ![]() The escape attempt climaxes part one, but in a way that is completely unexpected to Susan and reveals what seems to be a shocking truth about Maud which Maud’s narration explains in a way that leaves those truths even murkier. ![]() ![]() Susan is enlisted to facilitate her escape from this misery through an arranged marriage despite having fallen in love with her. Maud has been portrayed as a cloistered innocent living with her uncle and helping him with his deviant desire to create a pornographic dictionary. Maud, however, is also being deceived, so her narration is not necessarily one of pure clarification. Maud narrates the middle section of the novel, by which time much of what is thought to be true in the first part has been revealed as deception. The course of the nature of the relationship between Sue and Maud is one which reveals a complex tangle of secrets, lies and corrupted lineages. Connotation endows the word with a significantly different meaning, however, when Sue becomes maid to Maud Lilly. In part one she introduces herself as an orphaned who is the fingersmith of the title - on its surface meaning, a petty thief. Sue Trinder narrates the first and third sections of the novel. The juxtaposition of individuals literally fighting for their lives while simultaneously embracing pagers and broadcast news is fascinating and uniquely captivating. A dystopian setting based on the 1990's, Gong expertly interweaves the overarching sense of doom that accompanies dystopian societies with the freshness of a society on the cusp of a technological revolution. Immortal Longings transports the reader into San-Er, a fantasy city inspired by Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. Inspired by Shakespeare's Antony + Cleopatra, Immortal Longings tells the story of two individuals who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals - including entering a deadly competition. Despite the fact that it is only March, I feel confident that Immortal Longings is easily going to be in my top five books at the end of the year, I loved absolutely everything about this book. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not surprisingly for a story that spans three decades, The World According to Garp feels episodic.but in all honesty, that's part of its unique charm. Garp's life from birth onward is chronicled during this 136-minute drama, and I didn't check my watch once. He's relatively well-adjusted: a wrestler-turned-writer who marries his high school sweetheart Helen (Mary Beth Hurt), struggles with family, and makes plenty of mistakes along the way. Garp-named after the soldier, and played as an adult by Williams-doesn't end up like Norman Bates. Close plays Jenny Fields, a controlling and self-motivated feminist who essentially rapes a dying soldier so she can have a child without the burden of a man. ![]() Based on John Irving's popular novel, George Roy Hill's The World According to Garp (1982) is both a solid adaptation of difficult source material and an early showcase for Glenn Close and the late Robin Williams. ![]() ![]() ![]() The introduction does a good job of defining two-spirit and situating it in relation to other queer or LGBT identities: I finally got around to reading it this week after being reminded of it at Montana Pride, marching near the Montana Two-Spirit Society.įor people unfamiliar with the term ‘two-spirit’ (it is the 2 in one of the longer forms of LGBT: LGBTQIA2), I think it is worth quoting the introduction to the book at length. ![]() ![]() A couple years ago when I was first starting to talk about being gender questioning, my sister gave me a book called Sovereign Erotics: A Collection of Two-Spirit Literature, edited by Qwo-Li Driskill, Daniel Heath Justice, Deborah Miranda, and Lisa Tatonetti. My family frequently gives each other books for Christmas. ![]() ![]() ![]() Never Love a Cowboy got off to a slightly slow start for me. But whatever the reasons, I really need to stop doing that, because I always enjoy her books – a lot. My only excuse is that I keep getting distracted by other books and authors or I keep trying to read certain books that fit the various reading challenges in which I participate. I was shocked to discover that four whole years have gone by since I last read one of her books, which happened to be the first in her Rogues in Texas series. I have no idea why I keep allowing so much time to pass between my reading of Lorraine Heath's novels. When he's suddenly injured, risking his life to save her from mortal danger, Jessye vows to do anything to make him whole again- forcing this rugged scoundrel who claims he has no heart to take the greatest risk of all. Jessye knows that noble-born Harrison isn't for the likes of her, but beneath his devil-may-care exterior, she senses a deeper vulnerability. But although she is willing to be his partner in a daring business venture, she is unwilling to embrace the passion he offers. With her outspoken ways and flashing eyes, Jessye Kane is a temptation hard to resist. Arriving in Texas, he never expected that a sassy saloon-keeper's daughter would capture his eye. Harrison Bainbridge, the second son of an English earl, left his home seeking a scandal-free life away from society's stuffy restraints. ![]() New York Times bestselling author Lorraine Heath's classic novel of a love that overcomes all obstacles ![]() ![]() ![]() When he happens upon her playing guitar one night, fate intervenes and the two embark on a star-crossed romance.Īs they challenge each other to chase their dreams and fall for each other under the summer night sky, Katie and Charlie form a bond strong enough to change them-and everyone around them-forever.
